When a family entrusts us with the care of someone they love, I never take that lightly. Every family deserves to know their loved one is safe, respected, and genuinely cared for — and that belief is the reason I opened Avendelle at Picardy Point.
My educational foundation is a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, with a concentration in Business, from Appalachian State University. I chose psychology because my mission has always been to learn how to help others. Over the past 15 years, I’ve built my career in healthcare, biotechnology, and clinical research — leading teams focused on quality, operations, and the delivery of care.
That work taught me a lesson that shapes everything we do here: exceptional care comes from compassionate people, strong leadership, and an unwavering commitment to doing what’s right.

Melissa’s greatest role model has always been her father — a United States Air Force veteran and successful business owner. He taught her the importance of integrity, hard work, and treating every person with kindness and respect. Those values continue to guide her every day.
He is also the reason this home exists. When she watched what her family went through searching for the right care for him, she saw firsthand how difficult it can be to choose the right home for someone you love. She promised herself that if she ever built a place of her own, it would be the kind of home she wished had existed for him.

With over 17 years of leadership in senior care, Mo Carr brings the depth of experience, business insight, and clinical understanding that a home like Picardy Point deserves. As our Administrator, she leads with compassion, integrity, and a clear vision for the future of senior care.
Mo is an entrepreneur and owner-operator of four licensed family care homes in North Carolina, and the founder of MoBetter Global Care — a company developing communication platforms and AI-powered tools that strengthen caregiver support and improve care in senior living.
She creates a warm, home-like environment where residents feel valued, families feel supported, and team members are empowered to make a difference every single day. Her leadership blends clinical expertise, innovation, and business insight — setting a new standard for excellence in senior living.
